Holla Atcha Boy!

Fall back and retreat into your shell
All bets are off inside a steel and glass hell
Check confidence at the door and testify
To a situation not even God can rectify

Innocence- once gone, it is never to be regained
and it’s so damn easy to lose that precious shield
That wonderful guardianship of trust and naïve love
Don’t you love teardrops, girl? I sure hope you do
because the clouds of rain and thunder fall today

What a strange God we have that lets this happen
What a bad world we inhabit that people do this
And why my brother, huh? Why not someone else’s?
He never did anything wrong- nothing that bad, anyway...

Embrace the reality called death and chaos
and that precious, timeless substance called evil
and hatred, and violence. Because nobody
is gonna slow down and tell you where to go...

The bigger they come, the harder they fall
And the better targets they make for warmongers
Breathing used to be easy, but then so did life
But who am I to cry about my life...
when my brother just lost his own?

"For the dead and the living we must bear witness..."
